Hello all,

Planning on changing my automatic transmission fluid and filter on my 1993 Ford Explorer XLT.

Got a Hayne's Repair manual (really great help) and noticed that it has two different transmission types (at the office so don't recall the model numbers right now, one starts with a 5 and the other with an A), but one type says 4 quarts and the other says 5 quarts.

I think it's 4 quarts but just wanted to get some confirmation.

Thanks,

Jason

If it is an A4LD and it is a 4X4 I believe it is four quarts on a pan drop fluid change. Just check the fluid after the refill. I run an auxilliary filter and mine takes four quarts and it is a 4X4.

Thanks, yup 4X4. Will let you know how it goes, waiting for the torque wrench to come in.
