hey I am trying to get my camshaft position sensor back in and timed correctly. And i am trying to do it without the special installation tool. Mainly because i cannot find one. Anyone have a good procedure on this? I know that it has to be set at tdc and installed and then turn the motor to 26 degrees atdc, but what is the best way to measure the 26 degrees atdc?? any help would be appreciated.
thanks
steve

Hey Dude, I'm in the same boat right now....did you ever figure this out? If you did, could you help me?

Yep i got it figured out. What you have to do is set the motor at TDC . Then line the cmp up with the leading edge of the rotor on the left mark in the window. Put it into the engine parallel witht the center line (front to back) of the engine. After you have it in, locate the timing mark on your damper after top dead center. It should be 26 degrees past or about 34 mm. turn it to there and then rotate the cmp to a 90 degree position witht he rear of the engine. cmp can actually be out of synch quite a bit before it hurts anything. Hope this helps

Thank you stecam78....I'm still not sure I understand though. I've got it in there, but I just want to make sure it's right before I go through all the trouble of putting everything back together. So how does rotating the housing do anything?

Is this 214

hey guys, good i found you. I too am in the process of doing this but do you have to change your sensors? I canvassed for it and its almost CDN$700.00, whew! thats expensive.
Joe Dirt had the same problem for quite some time and he didnt bother to work on it.

Is there a danger if I continue driving my sport with this problem? I just dont have the money now I just spent $1000.00 for my tires.

One last request, can you show me where the CAMSHAFT SENSOR is located. a picture would be great.
