I hope I can get some opinions on my problem.

Backround:
Modulator was on order due to the trans fluid running thru the vacuum hoses, when this happened. Not sure if its related or just a separate trans issue.

I was driving & heard a bang, within 10 miles or so my truck just died while in gear. I put it in park and it started right up, but as soon as I put it in drive it died (drive or reverse). I checked the engine compartment for any vacuum hoses that blew off but all were ok. Started it again & was able to get it moving by basically holding the brake in and revving it while starting, put into drive and accelerated hard, (sort of like popping a clutch) once I got it going about 20 mph or so it ran fine & cycled thru gears speed was up to about 70, until I got caught at a light lol. Rinse and repeat.

Finally got it to Aamco. Luckily it was just opening so they were able to "test" it right away! They came to me and said it wouldnt start at all. I went over and started it right up, go figure lol. (way to inspire confidence) They continued testing and said it wouldnt go into any gear and it needed to be rebuilt, plus then charged me about $90.

I got in and drove off their lot the same way I got there, essentially it was like popping a clutch to get going. Got it home let it sit the rest of the day. The next morning it started right up and drove fine for about a half hour then same thing again. Its been sitting for a few months now as I work everyday so have been using the other car.

Thanks for any help or suggestions in advance!
