I am new to the forum but am hoping someone can help. I have 91 XLT with 115,000 miles on it. The tranny was replaced at around 50K. Last week the truck would not go in reverse. It would engage like the TC was locking in, but if you gave it gas, it would not move. So then I tried it in OD. It worked in OD in gears 1 thru 3 but would not shift into 4th. Then I tried manual 1, 2 and D....these did not work either. Same issue as reverse. It would engage but not go anywhere.

Here is where it gets interesting. I took it to the shop and they did some testing on the tranny. (I believe it was a pressure test but not sure.) Anyway, after pressure testing it, they said all the gears including reverse are working, but overdrive still does not work. The fluid looks good and correct level, and without them tearing into it, they won't say anymore. I have seen that this could be the 3-4 solenoid screen is plugged or the solenoid is not working. Are there any other possibilities before I take this and have someone rebuild it? Please help.

The common thread on no reverse and no manual 1 2 or 3 is the reverse engagement valve, it may be stuck. the lack of 4th may be related or could be the 3/4 shift solenoid is plugged. I'd pull the valve body and do a careful rebuild... I'm betting on bore 207, the reverse engagement valve.

My vehicle is doing the same. It work fine going in driver and reverse and the other day it won’t go in drive or reverse now. I was in a drive tru and now it won’t go anywhere.

My advice is the same.
