Where is the Starter Motor Relay mounted on this model, and what do Ford call it? I think there may be a bad connection here.

Occasionally, I turn the ignition key and nothing happens. All the lights stay on on the dashboard, so there's obviously no current being drawn.

If I turn off the ignition and wait for 3 or 4 minutes it starts no problem. Any suggestions please?

Cheers,

I believe the starter motor relay is under the hood, behind the battery along the interior wall to the left. A two inch round circular relay with a lead to the starter. They're fairly inexpensive. You may also want to meter the line to the starter to make sure the voltage is being sent.

I had the same symptoms and it turned out to be the bushings in the starter going out. Meaning. . . I had to replace the starter only after I tried the quick fix or replacing the starter relay).

Starter Solenoid on the fender wall near the battery. Your battery cables might also be corroded as well not letting current though.

Many thanks for your help. I'll give it a try!

Cheers,

Brian.

And it looks like this..

Your wire connectors will look different, but you get the idea.. Passenger side fender, near the battery.
