hi
p reg 97 XLT
starter motor clicking and not turning more and more.
Battery new and fully charged still same problems.
Any tips on getting starter out?
Looks the usual Explorer impossible to get at problem or the top bolt at least.
Can you buy just the solenoid?
Anyone recommend a supplier of recon or new?
all advice welcomed - still bear scars from changing the plugs!

Remember this one
Was not to bad a job once you get in to it recommend a 3/8 socket set.

Cheers Colin

yes me to - add a lump of grease to the socket so that top bolt comes out with the socket

13mm socket

The bottom nut, studbolt and the upper bolt require a 13mm socket. Remove the bottom first and then the top. You won't be able to see the upper bolt but you can feel it. The stiff wiring loom may prevent you from extracting the starter unless the loom bracket is unfastened.
