My buddy has a stock 94 xlt 4x4 ex with the auto hubs. He says the low range light is on and dim. Here's the setup: he never uses the 4x4. City driven 100%. Anyone have a clue why that light might come on at random?

Mine comes on sometimes when its extremely cold out in the winter. Its probably is related to the 4x4 never being used. Try putting it into 4X4, then 4X4 low, and taking it out a few times, and see if it goes away. As long as you go straight, you can do it on dry pavement and not hurt anything, do it in a big empty parking lot.

The light being on probably isn't hurting anything... but using the 4x4 sometimes even if only going back and forth in a parking lot circulates the lube in the front diff and keeps the hubs working. Otherwise you will get stuck in a snowstorm or something, need it and it wont work.

It is fairly common for one or both of the 4x4 button lights to be dimly lit from time to time. Rest assured this is just a stray electrical signal and in no way indicates the vehicle is in/or attempting to engage 4x4. In order for 4x4 to be on the Dash 4x4 lights as well as the button lights would need to be illuminated.

As Ted has indicated temperature seams to affect the light and in -32F mine would dimly light several times per month. In summer weather it rarely occurs (about once a month if that).

Good info

If his lazy ass would just drive up here to the beach and use the 4x4 on the sand once in awhile he might actually enjoy his rig. Funny thing is, we both bought our ex's off craigslist within a month of each other 2 years ago. Both 94's, but my EG color is better, lmao.

Thank you for the replies, i'll pass the info along:D:thumbsup:
