Hello,
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer that the check engine light stays on and there is a smell coming from the engine compartment that smells half burned gas. I pulled the code and it says code 327 which says egr position low circuit, I cleaned the EGR valve and it seems to be working ok and has vaccum going to it any suggestions on what else to check would be gretly appreciated

where is the dpfe sensor I see an aluminum sensor with to hoses coming from the egr tube and a vaccum solenoid going to the egr valve is either one of them it

Do you see any cracks on the vacuum line? Is the end going to the DPFE sensor loose? You said that you cleaned the EGR valve. Maybe it's time for a new one?

I tried a vaccum pump on the egr valve it seems to work fine when it opens up the engine will almost die one thing i noticed was the vaccum to the solenoid is very stong but from the solenoid to the egr valve seems very weak I didnt see a vaccum line to the dpfe there ar 2 hoses coming off of the egr tube going in to it

There won't be much noticeable vacuum coming from the solenoid when the motor is idling. The best way to test the solenoid is by hooking up a vacuum gauge to the line that would go to the EGR valve, and rev the motor. You should see the vacuum rise with the RPM's.

As far as the actual cause of the code, I'm putting money on the DPFE sensor. Hook up a meter and rev the motor and watch the voltages, they should rise.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Oh, didn't catch that. It's possibly defective, a voltage test can confirm it. I replaced mine recently that never worked since new 6 months ago.

There's also the possibility of a wiring issue as well.

took the new dpfe sensor off and took it back replaced it with another new one light is off for now i have been noticing a kind of squeeky jingly noise coming from the exhaust seems louder around the muffler could there be something in the muffler causing to much back pressure this thing runs super and is super quiet other than this little noise when your in the vehicle it sounds like a bad water pump or something but you cant here it under the hood only around the muffler exhaust is good and solid with no leaks just that funny noise I really appreciate all of your guys help with the dpfe sensor im not real familiar with egr systems but you guys have helped a bunch

Probably something a little loose somewhere on the exhaust. When it's turned off and cool, get underneath and shake the exhaust piping around some and see if you can replicate it. Then you should be able to find it.
Glad your code is gone for now. I thought mine was gone as well, but it's not....I have no idea what's wrong.

I shook the daylights out of exhaust took hose off of dpfe sensor and you can here this noise coming through this hose could the egr valve be bad and making this noise
