94 ford ranger xl 4x4 4.0
hi everyone. I'm new to the site. first time posting. i have a problem with my 94 ford ranger. its a standard cab 7 foot bed 4x4 4.0l 4 speed with o.d. and after its been idling for 5 min or so. the rpm's drop slightly and if i floor it and hold down. then it acts like tapped the gas for a second then let off. and goes to idling crappy all while i have it floored. then when i let off it it dose the same thing like i tapped the gas for a second and let off. but will not die. it is not backfiring. it is not missing. cleaned maf sensor. cleaned throttle body. the catalytic converter was removed before by previous owner. so its not clogged.
so i think its not getting the amount of gas it needs.

i have replaced.
fuel pump
fuel filter
tps

plz help.

hi and thank you very much.

bul i think i have this post in the wrong category.

..I'll move it to our Ranger sub-forum for ya..;)

Update.

I checked for codes i had just one for my maf sensor(159). So i replaced it and still no luck. And i was doing some more research and found out it only acts up after it goes in to closed loop. My buddy is trying to get a scanner so i can see more data than some flashes. I think once i get it running i will call it project money pit. ha ha. if i didn't like the darn thing so much id sell it.

another up date.

replaced coolant temp sensor and still no luck.

another update. changed o2 sensors. now crank but no start. inertia switch was tripped so i reset it. and still no luck. going to buy new relays . we had a big temp drop. so hopefully a new set of relays will do the trick . (and the relays are both originals).

has anyone checked the TPS ?

yup first thing i replaced.

update.. diode was corroded(no start). clean and put back in. relays are replaced . truck ran fine for 15 miles then the same problem occurred. total loss of power.

update.

well took it to my dads and he unplugged the battery cables for six hours. (i think it reset the pcm). drove about 40 miles and no problems. runs like sea-biscuit. hope it stays like that.

Great!

thanks ranger x. its nice to log my progress. when i get it home i need to take pictures to up load them here.

well it was my computer. found one on eBay. runs like a champ. haven't had a problem yet and its been months.
