ok, I am betting that my problem is the pickip coil, which in my case is also the crank position sensor. I have a new one. I did a scan and came back with the PIP fault code. Since then, I have tested my ICM and found it to be good. This is really the only other thing I can think of that would give me this code. So, here goes....
I removed the distributor cap and rotor. There is a metal piece that the rotor sits on, and I removed that too. Under that cap is the distributor shaft. There is a metal plate on the top of it, and it appears to be connected to the shaft itself. I must remove this assembly so I can change the pickup coil, but I don't see any way for it to come off. There are two bolts holding the pickup coil in place, and they are nearly impossible to get a socket on due to this metal piece above it. What am I doing wrong? I know that this will take no time to finish, as soon as I get this one piece out of the way and get to the old CKP. Any thoughts?
