1995 4.0 5-speed 1-2 shift problem when cold

I have a '95 5-speed with 150k miles. I have begun having a problem shifting from 1-2 when the truck is cold. As everything warms up the shifting improves. I thought that the problem might be the slave cylinder but a friend told me that a slave cylinder problem would be present all the time. Instead my friend said I have a problem with the trans input shaft bearing.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Does anybody have a follow up to this ? My 2009 Ranger is experiencing the same problem , it just wont shift into 2nd when cold .
