Tried searching, but came up empty. My trucks a fairly stock '95. The only change I've made is an upgrade from the 235/75/15s to 265/75/16s. If it weren't for the fact the issue existed before I mounted the bigger tires, I'd say it's my fault and go back to the 235s.

I've noticed the speedometer on the Explorer "bounces". I'll be doing, say 50mph, and I'll notice it drop a smidgen then back to 50. I thought it was me at first but it isn't. My cruise control is also useless, as the vehicle will accelerate, then drop speed, then accelerate again. I'm going out on a limb and assuming the two problems are related. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had this same problem!! Mine started out at a 5 mile difference then got worse and worse until it was 30 mph to 70 mph to 40 mph. You get my drift. Then one day it just quit working and my Explorer would not shift out of first. According to my repair bill here it says that my problem was the "transmission....repair wiring to speed sensor". That is the best I can do for you, but maybe it helps??

Sorry about the late reply, but thanks for the info. I have to do the oil change, plugs and wires and rear diff fluid Sunday so when I'm under there I'll clean that sensor and see if it goes away. Thanks!

Good luck!! I hope its only the sensor for you and all works out well.
