1996 Blinking 4wd Lights

I recently got a 1996 Explorer. Sometime sthe 4wd auto and the 4wd low light blink while in 4wd auto. They will do this even after I take it out of 4ws auto until I **** off and restart. ANy ideas?

two common causes of this are the shift motor and the hall effect speed sensors. Both on the trasfercase. Change the fluid in the transfercase and use the search feture at the top of the page and search for cleaning the shift motor and speed sensors and flashing 4wd lights.
