why is it something ALWAYS happens right as im gettin ready to go out of town.

driving along this morning, BAM, check engine light right in my face.

running fine.

best fuel mileage in the last 6 months in the last tank.

nothing new, nothing altered recently.

leaving for 300 miles of driving tomorrow morning.

any ideas? no way to scan it before i leave.

Run to autoizone.. it will take then 1 minute to tell you the codes..

Sceep, the check engine light came on on my 1996 Explorer last night about midnight. Mine X has been running great also, all of a sudden light comes on!! I won't be able to make it to Autozone before 4 pm central time today, so, if you get there before I do, please post your codes...and I'll do the same if I get there first. Thanks for all your help.

Made it to Autozone yesterday to have my codes ran. Check engine light went off on the way there. They checked anyway, the code that it was giving was P0133 - O2 Circuit Slow Response. It's the O2 sensor on the front drivers side on the exhaust below drivers feet. Man at Autozone said driving alot in town at slower speeds can cause this sensor to flash a code and that I should take it out on the open road more often. If the sensor does need to be replaced its part #15717 for $47.99 + tax. I'll let you know what I do about it if the light comes on again.
