1996 Eddie bauer no sound from sub

Hello I just bought the car yesterday, I noticed on the rear there is a speaker encloser that says JBL. I see the head unit is JBL. i can hear the radio fine and it gets nice loud and very clear, but there just isn't any base. I went back there as i put the base all the way up, but I didn't hear anything comeing from the speaker.

Do i have to activate it somewhere? does it only work with the cd changer?
All that i could find were the options to change from Jazz, to hall, stad..etc.

There is most likely an amplifier somewhere between the sub, and the head unit. I suggest trying to find it by following the RCA cables along the side of the truck under the carpet, and seeing if the amp is on, or fuse, etc.

the amp is next to sub. make sure the sub is good tho, cuz mine didnt work because it was ripped.
