Hello,

Ive been on this forum too much so i had to make an account. I have been having an issue lately, my truck has 210k+ on it, need to fix a couple things but one big one is engine tick I've been having. It has puzzled me for awhile and came to conclusion that bad gas mpg is coming from it. I have had a tune up, oil change, new coil pack, new intale gasket. Before all work gas mpg has been slowly decreasing over last year. Went from close to 400 miles a tank to barely getting over 250 to the tank. When I rev to 2k RPM it will stablize and tick comes in and throttles down, then tick goes away, engine goes back to 2k then ticks and throttles down. Same cycle over and over, has anyone experienced this tick that comes and goes as it pleases. Its starting to get frustrating and I want my good gas mileage back.

Thanks

If it is a ohv i had the same tick, i was told it was the lifters so i tore it all down new lifters all the way around, got it all back together and the tick was still there. It was a simple $10.00 rocker arm. But anyways sound like a valve train issue.

Ok I might have to look into that, I kinda figured it was a valve train issue. I was just curious if it was something I was doing wrong instead. Downside I don't have a garage or proper tools to do it myself :(
