I am in the process of buying an Explorer from my BIL and before I pass out one dime it has to be running. I replaced the AC bypass pulley, fuel filter, pump fuel relays, check the emergency shut off, put in a new battery and disconnected the alarm from the harness and it will still not start. At first the alarm was going off and we would have to jump in and shut it off. My husband came home one day and I jump in to leave and it cuts off. We tried to get to start again but failed. If I can't get it going soon he may be out of luck as the money could have helped him.
I am hoping someone has some help!

I should also mention that there is not a clicking sound you would hear if the alarm was armed. We could not hear the fuel pump cut on either. I actually like it but like I said if I have to keep putting money in it I will have to look at a different one.

If you cant hear the fuel pump kick on then thats the problem. New ones runs about $150 I think. check out www.rockauto.com and also there is a 5% discount code available in the vendor section on this website.

That is a new pump we just stuck in there! I am going to listen for it again in the morning and hope it does cut on.

I would say it's a problem with the Alarm. Unless you PROPERLY remove the alarm, it won't start. I have no doubt that the alarm has some type of starter disable, and if you just un plugged it all, and didn't fix the wiring...it's not going to start.

The alarm sounds like a good candidate for being the problem. Other things to check:

Does the CEL come on when you turn the key to the ON position? IF not, check the PCM relay. If the fuel pump isn't priming, it could be the PCM relay, fuel pump relay, inertia switch (make sure the connection is on good at the bottom of the switch), or the wiring or pump itself. Sounds like checked most of this, but double check again.

I had a Honda with an after market alarm, that would not let the car start in hot weather. Had to call the alarm dealer to figure out why. I still don't know they fixed it.
