Hi, I was afraid to revive an old Heater core thread so I will post a little about mine. One thing I was worried about is whether to remove the spline on the steering column. No problem it can only go 2 ways(it's not a spline) and if you wire that silver disc and lock the steering wheel I don't think its a problem. I had to fully remove the driver side bent bracket (engine side) nut even though there is a slot in the bracket. Makes it easier to remove the column. I will post some pics. Thanks and if you wanna request something while I have it apart please reply.

I also got good info from the Ford CD I have like popping off the shifter end and lifting the tab of the shifter cable where it is attached to the bent bracket. Also with plugs attached to metal just pry them carefully off instead of trying to press the release from a difficult angle, then press the release. What helps the most is using a mechanics mirror except you'll be kneeling on the ground alot. I used a mechanics pad a garden pad and a pillow all together on concrete. Bearable. The mirror is on a telescoping rod and is 2x3 inches.
