Hello Everyone,
Vehicle:
Bone stock 1996 Ranger 2 wheel drive
2.3L 5 speed
150,000 + miles
Problem:
The engine tends to stall at red lights, stop signs, etc. When the clutch is fully depressed. If conditions allow I can 'play' with the clutch & accelerator and keep it running. If the engine doesn't stall, the rpm drops to the 350-500 range. Sometimes the engine rpm will climb up to about 2000 at red lights.
I do not get a check engine light - never seen one go on in this truck, does it even have one? A friend has an OBD-II code reader, but with no check engine light is it even throwing codes???
My first thought is to replace the IAC valve.
Next clean the MAF
Then maybe check the EGR valve.
Anyway any help, ideas, ect would be greatly appreciated - or just direct me to the proper forum/thread here
Best wishes to all from sunny and not so hot (a cool 101 degrees today) AZ!!
Kevin
