Hi1
I was driving along this morning and my Explorer just died! There is no engine light, no anti theft light but all the other dash lights come on, no central locking, engine will not crank, fuel pump is not running. We are thinking it is the immobiliser, does anyone know either how to bypass or disable the thing please? Thankyou in advance for any replies.

97 doesnt have an immobilizer from the factory, do u have an aftermarket alarm?

This is a UK version, and as far as we know it is a factory fitted Bosch system with a single button key fob

Same thing happened to me with my '97 a few months ago. Fuel pump died w/o warning. Test to see if you have power going into the fuel pump; maybe at the output of the inertia switch in the passenger footwell. If you have power there, unlikely it is any kind of alarm or immobilizer issue. Good luck.

Yep, just unplug it it's under the drivers side dash, near the steering coloumn. Look way up under there from the foot well with your head near the peddles. it's a blck box about 3x4inches just unplug all the plugs and it will start right up.
