Well just found out that a noise I have been hearing for a little while now is my Transfer Case. Took it to a shop and they said they will do the work for me. They are going to to try and rebuild the guts of it but if it is tooooooo bad they will have to order a remanufactured one and install it. Wondering if anyone has had the same problems and what the cost of repair was. Also wondering if anyone knows of a good place on the web to order the TCASE cheaper than what they are offering at the shop.

Thanks all.

2nd opinion 2nd opinion 2nd opinion. Then, if it is your tcase, buy one on eBay for $150 and install it yourself. Don't let these fools charge you $1200 for a fix when you can do it yourself for under $200.

I have been looking on ebay for a Tcase but havent found one labled for an X. Is there an inparticular part number that I should be looking for?

Thanks

BW4404.

Is this something you could do yourself? If so, then any 4404 will work, but you'd need the rear housing from your '97 to put on a 98+ 4404 inorder for the speedo sensor to bolt in.

But if you're not comfortable taking the housing apart, look for a 96 or 97 case.

i have an AWD unit out of my 98 that has 30,000 miles on it if you want it for $150.... if you cant find one that is...

I appreciate the replies.

Section,
I could probally do the work but unfortunatelty time and weather are the issues. Right now she is a daily driver and taking it to the shop is kinda my only option. If the weather was better I would Ride in to work but cold and rain DO NOT agree with my ZX6-R 636. I am going to drop it off this morning to the shop and have them rebuild mine.

Labor = $400
Parts = $200

Also I am going to bid on the one you sent me the link to. Just to have a spare.

SVT,

If you want to sell your Tcase I would also be interested in purchasing it. Just let me know how much to ship to 23464 Va Beach Virginia.

Thanks
