1997 EXPLORER XLT
Hello,to all who visit from another rainy day here in North Alabama.About 3 weeks ago after an all night rain,I went to move my 97 Explorer XLT.Iturned on the windshield wipers, they made about 3 swipes and quit working. Also all of the power windows would not operate.I checked all fuses inside and out.I checked power on the fuse boxes and all checked good.I swapped out relays on the under the hood fuse box with no change.I took the wiring harness loose between the door and checked each wire, cleaned the male and female connectors, checked for loose connections, bad grounds, ect.I found inside the door where all the grounds for this system were connected and grouded to the door frame. All looked good and checked good.I took the bolt loose on the door and cleaned it anyway. This is the tricky part. With the key on,but not cranking up every thing works fine.As soon as I crank up after about 5 seconds the windows quit working. It'll do this every time.Right now the wipers are working normal for some reason. But the windows still do the same.In reading some of your posts,I'm thinking of trying another GEM unit.Any ideas? Or advice? One more thing. When I had the door controller out.I located the blue and black feeder. When checking voltage it shows 12v.When I depress any switch it goes to 0.I've maybe found a reasonable GEM to swap out would this be a good start? Thanks in advance for any help.OLJO FROM ALABAM
