1997 Mercury Mountaineer

My 1997 Mercury Mountaineer has 165K miles and has been pretty much trouble free. Last week I spent a couple of hundred dollars to get a cam position sensor replaced and now I have another "check engine" problem. Showed a check engine light this morning and I had it checked at Autozone. They showed it to be a transmission Range Sensor problem but have no information on sensor location and replacement sensors. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to this forum! Which engine do you have? The range sensor is on the driver's side of the transmission. What are the code numbers?

Thanks for the quick replies, especially on a holiday weekend! Sorry that I did not give more complete information on the initial posting. The Mountaineer is a 2WD vehicle with a 5.0L V8 engine. The automatic transmission is a Model 4R70W (I think) with overdrive. Everything seems to operating normally except for the check engine light.
