Have any of you changed out your thermostats on your 4.0 Sohc explorers, If so what tip or tricks did you use to get the back right nut off and also how did you get the gasket to seat right? Any tips would be helpful.

The gasket should slip around the rim of the thermostat. I don't quite remember, but was thinking that I pulled my upper intake manifor to get it out. Actually no, I take that back. I don't even remember how I changed it. I think I just went at it with a wrench and small movements. Just took some patience.

Just remember when you remove the clamp on the upper radiator hose to slide it back down into place! One of my mistakes which resulted in losing a bunch of fluid. And then trying to slide it back down later which cause me to take a shot of warm fluid in the face :o It was a total money shot. Not fun thinking what could have happened if I had gotten hit in the eyes or burned.

By the way, nothing sexual about the warm fluid comment.

yeap me too. other than that it was easy

I remember that one. Don't remember how I ended up getting it. Just patience or the right combination of extensions. I don't remember.

I do remember it being a pain.
