The alternator appeared to quit charging on my son's girlfriend's Ranger. I bought a used replacement and it appears not to be charging, either. I checked the 175 A fuse and it is good. When I measure the voltage at the regulator screw F I get 0 volts. The Haynes manual calls it a screw but it actually appears to be an opening for the positive voltmeter probe. the screw they talk about appears to be where you should put the negative lead. Am I right in my interpretation? When I check the wiring plug all the points have a zero voltage. Autozone's fuse panel drawing indicates a 15 A fuse for the airbag and alternator. I haven't checked this fuse, yet. What is it's purpose?

...if you have an autozone, shuck's, etc.. by you take the vehicle there and have them check it on their crash cart...i am going thru something similar on my 95 ranger and their test showed it was my alternator harness...i believe my problem is corrosion in the jacket...i hope this helps...:D
