The alternator appeared to quit charging on my son's girlfriend's Ranger. I bought a used replacement and it appears not to be charging, either. I checked the 175 A fuse and it is good. When I measure the voltage at the regulator screw F I get 0 volts. The Haynes manual calls it a screw but it actually appears to be an opening for the positive voltmeter probe. the screw they talk about appears to be where you should put the negative lead. Am I right in my interpretation? When I check the wiring plug all the points have a zero voltage. Autozone's fuse panel drawing indicates a 15 A fuse for the airbag and alternator. I haven't checked this fuse, yet. What is it's purpose?
