Hello! I have 2 questions, first of all, I had my front hub/bearing replaced in Feb and now I have a squeek coming from that area again, when it was checked out by a friend of mine the breaks looked fine, but I have been doing alot of driving since then, is it going out again or should we re-inspect the breaks again? Also when I break firmly but not really hard the break light comes on in the dash, it has been cold up here lately and was thinking that the e-brake may be sticking a bit but it even does it when it is warm. I was thinking that the squeeking (that happens only when I am moving) may be caused by worn pads and not the hub. When it is foggy I can hear the squeek coming from the front hub also.

Truck Specs:
1998 Ranger
almost 96000 miles
4.0 V6
5 Speed
auto hubs

Thank You
Ryan

the squeek could be your brakes, or the dust seals on the ends of the axles that contact the hub/bearing assy. being that your brake light is coming on during a hard stop means your fluid is low (pointing towards pads) but ford does have a TSB for the axle seals squeeking around "parking lot speeds" basically you cut about a 1/4" off the lip that contacts the hub and apply wheel bearing grease

this just started on sunday... atleast the squeek... I have noticed the break light come on once or twice before in the last few weeks...

give a quick shot of silicone where the axle meets the hub bearing and see if the noise goes away, and check your brake fluid

brake light coming on during stopping usually means low fluid in the master cylinder. low fluid in the master cylinder is primarily caused by low brake material or a leak i nthe system

check the fluid level, refill if necessary, inspect the friction material of the brakes

I'll check the break fluid tonight and take the truck to a friend of mine who know's what the heck he's doin' this weekend
