Im SO sorry if this is the the wrong section... Im new to this sort of thing .. I hope im not in violation of any sort of TOS and stuff... On the off chance for once im doing this right... Heres my situation....
I purchased a 99 explorer (6cyl.. Sohc) A few months ago off of a friend of mine when i was in a pinch.. Ive grown to love the thing.. But gradually.. As i went on driving it.. The idle started doing crazy things.. Id start it.. and it would rev up and down.. up and down.. incessantly.. Sometimes id start it and it would rev and immediately shut off... I experienced stalls occasionally (4 in the span of 5 months) ((And generally only when taking hard / sharp turns at speed)) Im not gearhead by any stretch of the imagination.. But i did some trouble shooting..and thought "Oh.. Ok maybe its the MAF sensor?" ... So i replaced the MAF sensor (And the air filter) and cranked it.. Bam.. Started beautifully... So there i was.. Happy and overjoyed .. "Hey i fixed it.. I did the thing!" Well now.. It runs worse the never... When i go to start it up... It Revs.. then dies within a second... I can get it to eventually STAY running but.. i have to sit there with my foot on the gas for a minute or so.. before eventually it chooses not to die out on me... Now this isnt ALWAYS the case.. Sometimes.. When i go to start it.. Itll start... Rev into the sky.. Drop.. REV.. Drop.. Revvvvvv Drop... REVVVVVVVVVVV.... Drop.... and stall (or wont stall) Friends are telling me its the IAC, But again im no expert on this sort of stuff... Any input guys? Ill add this.. When i purchased the car.. my buddy told me it had a damaged spark plug wire ... Thats on the list.. But would that cause this? Why wasnt it this bad before i swapped out my Maf sensor? Anyway.. Thanks in advance for anything you guys can offer...
