My 4.0 SOHC loses power when I push the gas too much. The rpm’s drop as if the rev limiter is kicking in around 2500 rpm+/-. If I drive without a heavy foot it runs fine but from a stop I have to be very easy on the gas. I have disconnected and reconnected the mass air flow sensor and it seemed to run better for a short time then I checked the sensor with a volt meter and the readings were from .9 at idle to 2.5 at about 2500 rpms. If I disconnect the plug from the mass air flow it runs pretty much the same a little bit different at idle. There are no codes when hooked up to code reader.

What is your fuel pressure?

Sounds like the fuel pressure is dropping as you open the throttle and admit more air into the engine...I would drop the fuel filter and replace it even if you can't check the pressure...

This sounds like a clogged fuel filter behavior on my 99 Explorer...

I just repaleced fuel filter about 1500 miles ago and yes the system is stock
