So I'm replacing the thermostat housing and decided to go with Dorman instead of paying $400 at Ford. I've already had three different housing from Dorman and found that all seemed to be defective. The 3/8" pipe bushing is loose in the housing. Is this OK? Perhaps there is an o-ring under the bushing flange.

When I put mine in I used some Teflon tape to get it tighten up. It has been in for about three years and I have not had an issue with it yet.

I cut one open it indeed does have an o ring in a groove machined into the brass insert. I tried an imported knockoff and had to immediately replace it with a Dorman, no problems yet I've been running it a couple years. The knockoff (Four Seasons brand) leaked profusely due to the inserts were crooked and not seated in the housing.

Thanks for the replies, I will go ahead and install part.
