1999 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer EATC issues
I have a 1999 Ford Explorer with Eddie Bauer EATC (Electronic Automatic Temperature Control) heat and ac system.
I live in Florida, so ac is the most important thing and tend to use 8-9 mos of the year at some point.
About 1-2 years ago I noticed on those kind of medium comfortable fresh days , with outside in the high 60's-to low 70's days, when you dont want to use the a/c and just want some fresh air to come through the vents that the air coming in is not fresh but really hot though the vents, I also noticed that on real cold days when they do happen that the heater works but is real hot. I really cant adjust the temp much with the electronic control. The fan speed still works incrementally and you can adjust the speed but all of the vents put out hot air, whether the mode is defrost-floor-floor panel-dash, its either real hot or switch it back to max ac, as max ac works. So Max a/c still works. But no way to adjust temps, its either max /ac or HOT.

Now, just the other day I had to replace the battery. After doing so, I started to hear a tapping or clicking noise behind the glove box on the dash. I hear the noise without the EATC even on, (the ignition is on) and when I do turn on the EATC the tapping/clicking noise seems to be more pronounced and faster. Without the EATC on I hear the noise like every 2 secs but with the EATC on its about every second. I am thinking the noise maybe has nothing to do with me replacing the battery, and just purely coincidental, but not sure.

So now I kind of have two questions:

1) Assuming I am living to live with the inconvenience of the air not temp not being ideal each and every climate day, can I het rid of that damn noise? and
2) Lets assume I want to get rid of noise and fix the climate control system, any suggestions on where to start? Are there any reset codes for these Eddie Bauer EATC controls?

Thanks for any advice you can share.
Craig

That sounds like the blend door playing up. Many articles on the subject.
