I was driving my truck the other night and it was raining pretty bad, so I decided to use the 4wd high for some added stability on the road. Switched it on, and the truck started making a god-awful noise, like a high pitched whining/hum. I flipped the switch back over to 2wd, and nothing, it wouldn't come out of 4wd high. We get back into town, and I try flipping the switch back and forth between 2wd and 4wd to see if anything will give, and it will go back into 2wd. I feel a clunk and it feels like something gives, then I immediately started smelling what smelled like hot grease. Drove the truck another 10 minutes back home. The smell was horrible. Looked under the truck and this is what I have:
What happened? And how much is this going to cost to get fixed? Would like to fix it as cheaply as possible, because I'm putting this thing up for sale before it bankrupts me.
