A common failure is the ABS sensor on the top of the rear diff. In addition to serving the ABS, it does double duty by providing the VSS pulse for the speedometer, speed control and PCM. The sensor is relatively inexpensive and easy to replace.
Also could be the wiring path to the ABS sensor including the large connector under the chassis right below the driver seat. That connector can get water/salt/corrosion in it and cause a variety of bad behavior.
