The 4 door springs will help a lot, especially with the ride. I just put them on my Sport and it helped tremendously. Plus I got about 1-1.5" of lift from them. It took me just over 2 hours to remove and replace the springs. No more bottoming out crawling over speed bumps. I still need to get another 1.5" out of my explorer just to level it. If you want to go add a leaf, you will end up piecing one together, you would have to use a long one and then a short one, then need clamps to hold them together. Not to mention a horrible ride.
