FNG here. lol. Any how, I am looking at buying a 1999 Explorer XLT 4.0 (SOHC?). That the trans works and dosen't work. The guy says when he was driving it, the OD light flashed a few times and was shifting funny. Then the tranny quite working. It sat for a few months and I found out he had it. Now on a cold start the trans ingages in all gears. When it warms up to Operating temp then nothing. I've checked the fluid and it's got a slite brown ting, no metal. It is over full and has not had a flush ever. It has 130000 miles on it. So with this in mind is it a major problem or will a new oil and filter fix it. Or do I need to look at sensors? Also the check engein lit is on but don't have access to a code reader, and the truck won't move to get to one. I want to buy it but would like to know if it's a simple fix or a major fix. Thaks all.......:exp:
