98 explorer trans problem

Getting a skip or lag when trans goes from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4, but only after trans has had time to get warm. Is this something I can fix myself or have to take to a shop. Need to get fixed, Just bought 23ft travel trailer, Don't want to get stranded.

Welcome to this forum! It sounds like it might have bad valve body gaskets. How many miles do you have? The EPC might have to be replaced if you have a lot of mileage. Check the torque of the valve body bolts. They tend to get loose, and could cause shifting problems. A good place to start is by reading Glacier991's 5R55E valve body rebuild diary which is a sticky in the transmission section.
