1999 x power door locks/dash lights

i know i seen this on here before but i cant find it now.the drivers and pass. switches wont lock or unlock the doors but the switch in the rear hatch works fine, any one know what this is? also the pass. side window switch doesnt work but i can put it down with the drivers side. and i have no dash or raido lights and this is really annoying when driving after dark, the idiot lights work but the "backlit" part doesnt. by the way it is a 4 door. thanks

Start checking ALL the fuses and relays. I have found there are any number of fuses and relays controlling many different circuits on these Explorers. They aren't like the old days where each circuit had ONE fuse.

Re the locks: You said the rear switch works to unlock. How about the remote? Or the outside pad, if you have one? Given the rear switch works, first place to check are the wire bundles between the body and the doors - broken wires in here that disable lock/window switches very common.

Re the dash lights: Do any of the illumination lights (dash, controls, window/lock buttons, etc) work? If any of them work, then likely not a fuse or relay, but just a bunch of bulbs out. If none work, then fuse, relay or GEM more likely the problem.

i dont have a remote or the code for the keyless entry and never really looked for the code. what color wires should i be tracing and where are the most common spots that they break?

none of the dash/raido lights work other than idiot lights and the fuse is good.

5 digit code for the keypad is printed on a label on the Remote Access Personality (RAP) module. It is usually located on the driver's side of the cargo compartment; if you take off the access panel and look forward with a flashlight you will be able to see it and read the code. There is a relay box near it that contains the various relays for locking/unlocking functions.

The wires are various colors, depending on what they control. They break inside the rubber cover between the door and the body. There is one trapped 10mm bolt that holds the connector together; unbolt it, stretch out connector, cut wire tie off connector and peel rubber back. The broken wire(s) will be pretty obvious.
