Great site! I have a couple of questions ....

* Any input on where to begin to troubleshoot the air selector switch as I have only defrost working. I believe it to be a vacuum problem but don't know
where to start looking.

* The gear select indicator is now about 1/2 off where it should be. In other
words when in Park the indicator reads 1/2 way to Reverse and is that
annoying!!!! :fire:

Thanks in advance for any help in these frustrating problems

Yes, a loss of vacuum to the HVAC controls will default to defrost only. Check the vac connections to the spherical vacuum reservoir under the air filter box. Look along the passenger side inner fender to see if the plastic line from the reservoir to the AC plenum has been melted or cut. Check under the dash for an unplugged vacuum harness or leaks/disconnects where the hoses connect to the 3 servos.

Another remote possibility: your 99 4x4 has the Pulse Vacuum Hublock system which is a known potential leaker. It also shares the vacuum reservoir with the A/C controls. If it leaks enough the vacuum will be insufficient to get the A/C out of defrost.

A small cable connects the selector lever to the gear indicator. It has a thumbwheel adjuster to sync the two. You will have to remove the upper half of the steering column trim to get to the thumbwheel.

I feel that I need to tell you something, but nevermind. rwenzing gets props for knowing what he's talking about.  Oh and welcome to the site.
