I joined the forum several years ago, but never posted. Haven't been on the forum for a couple of years, but I just bought a 2002 Sport Trac with 63,850 miles on it and came here to learn more about it.
Still have a '94 Explorer that my son will now be driving.

Nice low mileage Sport Trac. Good find:chug:

Probably won't have pics for awhile. Both vehicles are filthy. The streets are a mess, and will be for some time to come. We got a foot of snow 10 days ago, a little more since and more on the way.

Bought the truck Monday (Christmas Eve), and scored a bed extender for $52 from Craigslist on Sat! Missing 1 locator pin, and my truck doesn't have the "striker bolts", but I have the important part.

I like the wheels, too. And it sets my truck apart from the one someone just down the street bought since I got mine! There was a red one in that driveway until about a week ago. Now there's a silver one like mine. The picture on the lot's website showed mine with the factory alloys with these same tires. I find it odd that the used car dealer swapped the wheels, but they have other trucks that I think they put aftermarket wheels on, too.

We haven't had much snow since I started driving the truck. I just got it Christmas Eve, right after the 12" snowstorm the week before. Had to wait for the streets to clear before they'd let me test drive it. From what we have had since, they aren't terrible, but the Goodyear Wranglers on my '94 Explorer are much better. The Wranglers are excellent street tires in the snow.

I'm on the NE side of Des Moines.

Welcome.

The wheels aren't bad- I kinda like them. How do those tires work in the slippery stuff?

Referring to the Firestone Destination LE tires on my Sport Trac -
We got several inches of snow overnight and this morning. The tires seem to work ok in the deep snow, but they suck big time on packed snow!! Little traction and no stopping grip at all - and that wasn't even on hard packed slick stuff! Slid past where I should have stopped at a red light, and when I got back to work it slid into the curb in the parking lot that was plowed this morning. Fortunately the curb stopped it and I didn't hit the tree!!
