Just found this site and am enjoying looking around. I've searched and read many posts on BLs. I understand what to do for a 3" BL from previous posts (PA kit for Ranger, bumper brackets, etc..) but I am really only interested in a 2" lift. From the posts, it also appears that a 2" kit for a 91-94 Explorer will work up to a '97 (with some bolts having to be bought separately). Will the 91-94 work on a '98? I am not too tuned in yet to the subtle differences in later models (just bought mine) so I'm not sure. I am assuming that since 31s will fit with no lift, 32s will fit with a 2" lift with maybe some swaybar polishing in tight turns. If that is a bad assumption, please let me know. I know this topic has been done to death but after diligent searching I couldn't find an answer to the 2" on a 98.

Thanks,
Steve

Go with the 3"...
I first put on the 2" lift and was running 31x10.5R15 BFG M/Ts. You have to get custom brackets made to lift the bumpers with the 2" and it is a PITA, because the radiator has to be moved so you have to get brackets made for that too.
The 3" has everything you need and you will be able to run 31s or 32s and not have to cut any thing on the body.

Thanks for the input. I really want to do the minimum lift to fit 32s. I gather from my search that the 3" lift front bumper bracket from PA will work for the 2" lift. It just eliminates some of the stock gap above the bumper. I may end up with the 3" lift but I still want to investigate the 2", so I would still appreciate any other thoughts on my questions.

Thanks,
Steve

If all you want to do is put 32" tires on then you could probably get by with no lift at all or just a torsion twist/shackle lift. I put my 265 75R16 (31.7") tires on before I had any lift. I only had to cut a 1 square inch piece of plastic from the inside of the flare on both front wheels. Do a search for "largest tires that will fit on '97 Sport" and you will see what I had to do to make them fit.
