I used a spst (single pole single throw). There is usually a a wiring diagram on the relay. On mine I hooked the output to a terminal strip, then hooked my amps, the fans and the neon lights for my amp rack all to the terminal strip.

SJR-how exactly would you wire it up, well i think i know, but ive honestly NEVER used a relay, what one would I buy, and where at?

can buy one from any autoparts store or radioshack..just tell them what u want to do and they'll instruct you how to wire the rest. If not you can come back here but typical relay wiring for something like this is very simple.

You just run a constant power wire to the relay which can be taken from your distro block, batt terminal, or piggybacked from your amps power terminal. Then you use the remote wire signal for the deck as your trigger to turn the relay on and your last wire is the output to your fans, neons, other amps, whatever else you want hooked up.

Using a relay is common practise anytime you're using more than one amp. Or even if you're using more than one big amp a lot of smart people use relayed remote power to that so that their deck isnt overdrawn or their amp isnt starved for current.
