(2) Kicker 15" L7's -vs- (1) Kicker SoloX 18

So what are TWO good subs for me then? Some people want something thats just gonna add a little bass to their music, I want to be able to get someone in my car and they drop a damn load in their pants.....and box wise, I dont want ANYTHING over the window line, nothing past the back seats, I always have people back there..

**Two good subs, where I wouldnt have to really upgrade much power wise, besides a 200+ amp alt, and a couple big batteries

Why not two 12" Solo X's? I ran a pair of them off of a hifonics goliath at first then two Kicker KX2500's. Satisfied me for the time that I had them.

I guess what you said there proves you do know a thing or two about audio. I dont know how our whole fight started...
you said type r's are best for SPL...i said i wouldnt use them...and you called me a noob *sniff* internet text ftl? :chug:

i know 4 doors have more room than my 2 door, but i dont know how much more room they have. in mine i can fit around 7-8 cubes after port displacement. that's tight space with amps mounted to the box (which i recommend avoiding if you can). my box is 8 cubes and i'm right at the edge of my back seats, and just a couple inches over the window line. so with a lil research i think you can easily do a pair of 15's or 18's with a decent amount of power to them. i'd take a pair of good 18's or 15's with 1k - 1.5k power handling over the solo x any day. more cone area and more reliable sub imo. a pair of 15's in dual 1 ohm config with a 2000 watt amp would fit quite nicely. what exactly is your budget?

For an amp I recommend a sound digital SD5000.1d which does 5k at 12.6 volts at either 1 ohm or 2 ohm (depending which version you order). They work down to 8 volts of battery so youll never have that issue. And this amp is only 11 3/8 X 19 5/8.

My other choice (in no order) would be a stetsom 4k2d. These things put out huge power in a small size. My buddy runs 4 of them in his bassracer and is putting up world class numbers. 4200 rms @ 12.6 volts @ 2 ohms, or 5500 rms @ 13.8 volts @ 2 ohms

American bass 500.1...great amps but a bit bigger than the sound digital and stetsom. But super solid. These are what I run. They do about 5k at 14.4 @ 1 ohm but will daily drive at 0.5 ohm no problems.

Id suggest using 2 15s rather than 2 18s. Youll be able to get a better enclosure design in the cargo area which is much more important than more cone area.

Then for woofers Id look into Digital designs 9515s, T3 TSS 15s, FI BTL 15s, DC sound labs level 5 15s, Incriminator audio death penalty 15s, american bass HD 15s. All of these are reconeable and available in a variety of voice coil options. IMO loudest in the list SPL wise with 5kw power to the pair would be DD 9515s and american bass HD 15s. Best sounding with 5kw to the pair would be the T3 TSS 15s. And the DC level 5s will be the most durable IMO

Call me stupid, but I dont really know about SPL, but all those subs looked nice, and sounded badass from the videos, but where would be the best place to buy them?

direct from manufacturer for most of them. Or if they have a dealer near you theyll refer you to him.

The Audioque is almost identical to the ab subs, wait... The vfls... cant remember. Wagonized knows his stuff.

well here is my **** all hooked up-mind you that amp is just over 2ft long...

Thats an L7 15 right....?
How many watts are you pushin it with?

audioque is close to the DD 9515...AQ is owned by a relative of the owner of DD.

AB VFLs are the same as Atomic APXs except the owner of atomic is a knob and cant place orders properly. My recones from atomic were assembled and ready to drop in but he forgot to glue one of the main joints together on BOTH recones..so they came apart as soon as any major as the woofers reached any decent excursion.

well i WAS puchin 1000w rms @1 ohm..i sold it to a guy who put it in the back of a prelude..which was run into the back of in less than a week, farewell system :salute:

Sorry to hear that man!

But I have a good question.
I want to make a "power" box type thing, ill try to draw up some pics with what im thinking, but I want to have a fan mounted, so theres airflow (something with the battery and amp in it, or at least the battery, and distribution block) and I want the fan to be triggered like the amp, when the radios on, the fans on, radio off, fan off.

I dont want to have to flip a switch everytime to turn it on or off...

that amp had heatsink/vent fins along the entire section... i have a custom fan in my current system, its a regular 12v fan from autozone and i hooked it up to my remote turn on wire....;)

Well thats what I thought, but the remote wires not 12v is it?
Plus it seems like it would put too much of a drag on the headunit....?

yes its not 12v and i forgot to add that..the fan spins about 25% slower than when connected straight to 12v, but it cools good, and was the simplest to wire. as far as draw on the hu- this fan is only 2 inches in dia. but is a h/o fan and havent noticed any negative effects on the hu

Haha i was planning on more of a like 4" or bigger fan, or at least like 3 2" fans

Hmm...I wonder if I could run a relay with the remote wire

That is what I did. Use the turn on lead to trigger a relay.

see again my way was the """simplest""" way, im sure you guys could come up with something crazy!
