Ok, im pretty stupid at speaker and stereo stuff, my question is , what is better to get the 2 or 4 ohm spkrs. I just bought 2 fosgate punch 700 amps, and need to know what would be the best set up for the x im getting "Tramp" any info on speaker sizes and types for the doors and subs would be greatly appreciated, but I was thinking of going with 4 10's but dont have a specific brand yet. thanks alot, mike

There is no better or worse as far as the impedence of your voice coils on your subs.. Do you plan on using both of those amps for your subs or is 1 for the sub and 1 for your 4 speakers? How are you using the amps? There are so many combinations of sub brands/sizes that it's really all preference. Go to your local audio shop and listen to the various speakers and get what sounds good to you. After all, you are the one listening to your system right? I ended up going with a jl 12" w7 and a jl 1000/1 amp. Once I heard the combo, I bought it. VERY clean and crisp sound and TREMENDOUS amounts of bass. My back window flexes a good inch or so on some deep bass notes. I may have to replace it.. Give us some more info on your spending limit and what you want to get out of your system, I.E. spl or sq. Spl being sound pressure level = LOUD BASS or SQ= sound quality.

Its does somewhat matter what ohm sub(s0 you get depending on your amp specs.
You said you picked up 2 RF 700 amps, are they both just being used for the subs?, if so how many subs?
you will want to match the subs with the amp to get the most power from the amp
Are the amps the 700S model?
If so I believe they push:
350Wx2@2ohms
175wx2@4ohms
700wx1@4ohms Bridged (mono)

So if you want 2 subs on 1 amp, I would suggest dual 4ohm to run the 350x2@2ohm by the way you wire the subs if the subs you want can handle 175watts per coil

if you want to run a sub to each amp to run 700x1@4ohms you want to make sure that the subs can handle this
On a sidenote, how much did you kick for the amps?(looking for a decent price to pick up one)

they are the 700s model, if i go with the 10's i was thinking of using one amp per two 10's, and if 12's then one per also, and they were $269 apiece at sound domain. I'm going to pick up a couple smaller amps for the front speakers, see im not installing it a buddy of mine is, im just trying to buy all the stuff before i get back to the states, now another question is , do i need one of those capacitor things? in my blue truck, when its really hitting ive noticed my lights flicker and i dont like it ha ha, so will a cap fix that? thanks, mike
one more thing, what is a good brand of sub, one that can handle alot of power and is good sound, i listen mostly to heavy stuff like pantera and soulfly, **** like that. if that helps:D

for the lights flickering either get larger ground wire or a cap. as for subs, it's all preference. listen to a few peoples systems until you find what you like.

A cap will help with your dimming but the electrical system will still have the strain of your system. I would invest in a higher output alternator or better battery. Caps are a temporary fix, they may cure your problem, they may not..

Like Mohog stated its all preference as far as subs go. You got so many too choose from RF, JL, Kicker, RE, Infinity, Audiobahn, just to name a few good ones, I'm sure there are others. Decide which size you want first.
I think with 10s, you will get better SQ and with 12's more SPL. I have 2 12's kicker compvr's on a RF300S and they sound great to me, but with you wanting to give the subs 700watts each you would have to look into something that can handle the power.

I do have the high out put alternator and an optima batt. must be a ground or something, but thanks alot guys, like i said im just trying to build up a kick ass system for that new x im getting and right now i have the cash to do it so i kind of want the top of the line stuff to do it right the first time.

If you're going for top of the line stuff and you want sq with spl, get the w7. It offers extremely nice bass. That with a jl 1000/1 and you're set for the rest of time.

WELCOME TO 2 OHM

For subs at the least...
Make sure your power supply and equipment are up to par first, alternator, regulator, battery, cabling, capacitor, amp, and go 2 OHM...
