I have a 92 Explorer and i want to put a lift on it. Can a 3" body lift fit without many modifications, or should i just put a 2" lift. My stepdad told me that a 3" would be to much because i would have to modify to many things. He is knowledgable about cars but i just wanted to hear some opinions from people who have done this before.

i put a 3" bl on my toyota truck... it was pretty easy.... i guess with a 3" there is more stuff to do than with a 2" but the stuff i had to do wasn't much... its pretty straightforward... and its better to go now and have the extra 1" of clearance than to do all the work and be pissed because the tires you wanted didnt fit in real world situations

I just received my 2" BL from performance accessories. It came with all the extra stuff that the 3" does (steering ext, etc...) so if I decide to go bigger I just need the new lift pucks. Personally I choose the 2" because from I have read its easier and I don't like the idea of using a steering extension. Also at this point im not looking to change gears so I dont want to go larger than 31/32 with my stock 3.73 gears. 2" should clear those tires even if I have to trim

Yeah I want the 3" but the reason i posted is because he was worried about the steering extension. Does the extension come with the performance assesories lift? If not where do i get one?

I would go with the 3". The entension is a solid peice of metal. It is not like they break all the time. In fact I have never heard of one breaking. Just make sure you get the bolts tight and you are good to go.

thanks a lot for the info. I appreciate it

EDIT: 351st POST = BADASS

dude you dont even need the extension... i have been running my truck since like, 2003ish and havent had a problem.

Im doing my 3" right now, just looking up something, I cant image the 2 inch would be any easier, You might not need the steering extenstion but you have to mod the bumper brackets and that would be harder, i think.
PB blaster everything a couple times in the preceeding days, I got all 10 body bolts out with no complications. That was my main worry, anyway, I debated going 2 or 3 inch a lot and let me tell you, as soon as I had the first side up, I thought, man im really glad I got the 3 inch. Of course I havent driven it yet so my opinion could change
PS, it was all pretty easy. I was surprised that the bolts were 18mm. Had to go buy a socket. :)
