1. What are the 2 hoses that run underneath the battery tray? 1 has a green plastic fitting at the end and the other a white fitting.

2. My Mountaineer has started to put off a lot of vibration/noise when going straight or left but the sound/vibration disappear when turning right. I've heard of everything from bearings to the engine having shifted but I'd like some educated opinions. :) It's headed for the shop either way but the timing of the problem is curious as it started shortly after the mechanic pulled a couple wheels to inspect an ABS issue. (which turned out to be a bad sensor he said and we left it unrepaired atm)

Definitely sounds like the a wheel bearing to me.

Turns out it was indeed the front left bearing on the same wheel as the bad ABS sensor. Only $40 more to replace the bearing than it was to do the sensor. Glad it turned out to be the same wheel. :)

So can anyone tell me what those hoses are? I've obviosuly not auto-mechanically inclined. :/

Glad ya updated this and got your truck fixed, as for the hoses, I still don't know everything about 2nd gen ex's or mounty's so I couldn't answer that lol, I'll try and look in the manual later and see.

the hoses are part of the trucks fuel vapor recovery system
They send vapors from the fuel tank into the intake manifold to be burned, on the Gen II trucks the charcoal canister is mounted near your spare tire and there are two solenoids that control the flow of vapor to the intake.

Emissions junk in other words :)

Alrighty, I have yet to completely look over these trucks, I mean I glanced before we got them but nothing real thorough so I haven't a clue on some of the stuff.

Thanks for replies. :) Haynes manuals are crap but I figured out the 1 hose (the 1 I need to replace) is the PVC hose. :)
