2-way or 3-way

Ive just started learning about all the speaker and audio stuff and i just had a quick question....Are 3-way speakers for lows and 2-way speakers for mids and highs if not here is what i wanna do..

I wanna replace front and rear speakers and i was looking at the rockford fosgate 6x8. I wanna get good highs and lows and mids but i dont know if i can only get that done with the component or what but id rather just get good speakers and bolt em up. so basically is there any kind of a diffrence with the 2 and 3 way speakers? and which is the best to get 2 or 3?

IMO the only difference between most 2way/3way coaxials seems to be a bit more in depth midrange, and maybe a hint more upper frequency response.. I'd strongly suggest you audition the speakers you're eying up before buying.

Most people on here that have 2/3 way coax's put the 3 ways up front, and the 2 ways in back.
