So, here I am working on a friends Ranger. It's a 2000 Ext cab 3.0 stick shift 4x4.
He's just got it and we noticed that it had the exhaust hanging a bit low. I just figured it was a broken mount or two.
Further investigation shows the cat converter resting on the transmission crossmember. Odd. Cat converter also looks identical to the one in my 4.0 Ranger (99 4.0 ext cab auto 4x4).
Looking at O'reilly auto parts website shows a cat converter for the 3.0 as having cats attached to header down pipes, right next to the 02 sensors. I am wondering f this truck have had an incorrect Cat put on it, or perhaps even a whole 4.0 exhaust.
Any chance someone has a picture of a 3.0 exhaust, or maybe someone has one they can crawl under really quickly and describe where the cats sit ?
