Hi guys,
I am looking at buying a 2000 XLS v6 OHV with 145k miles. The only thing I can find wrong with it is it will not shift into 4-low.
It will " lock up " in 4-hi on dry pavement and release when shifting it back into auto.
I am wondering :
Is this the same trans and transfer case as in my 1996, but wired to preform dirrerently ?
Does the shift motor only shift from low to hi on the 2000 ?
If it does not shift into LOW, but appears to work in HI, will it also work as designed in AUTO ?
how does AUTO actually work ?
I did try putting the car in Neutral with foot on the brake, and the 4WD low ( and 4WD hi ) light does work when turning on the key.
Any info and insight is appreciated...
