I have a 1997 Explorer 5.0 AWD, the only way it will shift into 2nd is if you let off the gas around 2500 rpm, or if you go slow at about 15 or so it will finally go in by itself ,the rest of the ***** are right on the money.

has all gears , down shifts fine,

changed tps, speed sensor no change , new fluid , filter

any ideas ?

Thanks

Ford has problem with 1-2 shift accumulator sticking. This is probably your problem and isnt to hard to replace. You will have to drop the pan to access and it is held in by snap ring.
