I've looked all over this forum for some ideas or threads that pertain to my "special" problem. I used the wealth of info found herein to help me V8 swap my '98 2wd (which btw has recently rolled 200k). now I have another project..... I
want to use a 2000 explorer as an organ donor for a street rod(ish) project. I had planned to use a different eng/trans/t-case(carb/351/c6np205) now this efi jewel drops in my lap. So now I have some questions, and I think you guys can help.

1. will the trans shift properly without the rear diff speed sensor?

2. any idea how to power the pcm without the explorer dash?

3. anyone want to help me eliminate unwanted wires from the explorer harness?

this is going in a 1940 ch#@y pickup (because I can) to be used mostly for recreational purposes. I plan on making it semi-streetable, lights and noise

There are a few options for engine management that are relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of things.

There are more out there, but that should give you an idea.

If you were planning on using the explorer's ECU, the cluster isn't really your big worry here. You also need to be aware of the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System). That is the little radio transponder ring that bounces a radio signal off the key to verify you are using the correct key to start the vehicle. No signal from the PATS, is no bueno, car won't run. As far as the transmission shifting properly... I can't recall.

You should get your hands on a wiring diagram and a shop manual for a 2000 Explorer if you want to do this swap.
