hello I was wondering what all I would need to do an Eddie AWD gear ratio swap into my 2000 Explorer AWD 5.0? I am wanting to put 4.10 and as of right now it's 3.55.

Just the gears or axles and all?

Just the gears and carrier. Would just the gears and carrier be the only thing I need or would I have to change my axles and other stuff also?

On the front it would be easier to swap the housing and all, on the rear you need the shims, bearings and races, gears and carrier.

So what if I just got a front and rear full assembly and drag and dropped them in. Will that be all that I need?

Yeah should be, might get new u bolts for the rear if you do that. I used my old ones but either way check them a few times to insure they stay tight.

If you're a factory V8 I'm pretty sure you'd be 3.73s. Are you an open diff? I wish the 4.10s were more common.

That is true V8 had 3.73

Nope according to the tag on the rear end and the door jam it's a 3.55 ratio

That why I'm hoping since it's a 8.8 rear end with a 31 spline I can just get the full front and rear assembly and do a drag and drop application. But with the 4.10 instead of my 3.55

Yes you can, I have 3.73 and like them

The front would be a direct swap if from same gen but the rear the v8s had track bars so unless the 8.8 4.10 doner axle was from a v8 it wouldnt have the tabs on it for the track bars..this is if you still even have them..you could always weld new tabs on the axle tubes if you wanted them..

True I forgot about that

Ok and does it have to be from an AWD or would one from a 4x4 work?

Any will work but like stated above, only the V8 model's had the bars so if you want to keep them you will have to swap the internals on the rear.

This is a 2nd gen v8 rear end..ive welded other tabs on but gives you a picture

Yes I still have my traction bars
Is the truck a street vehicle or is it used offroad? Whats the reason for 4.10s and what size tires do you have?

IDK why that matters I have 33" tall tires and go off road weekly with the bars and never had a problem.
